The overall message I was trying to convey was how any picture you take could be turned into something better. For example, I used a picture of a table with hanging art in the background, 2 pictures of the sunset, a picture of my mom in the car, and a picture of a christmas tree. I used all of those and blended them together to add layers and a meaning behind this project. Each layer represents something different to me. I have a layer with a sunset and a layer with a sunrise. I included these because I am in love with the sky. It is my favorite thing in the world, and every chance I get, I take a picture. Especially this past couple months the sky has been very colorful and bright. I have a layer with a christmas tree that I took in Detroit when I went skating with my family. This picture represents my love for the holidays. Another layer was a table with a picture on the wall beside it. I included this picture because I thought it was a very relaxing scene and it holds a memory. The final layer was a picture of the sky and my parents in our car. I decided to include this picture because it holds everything I love and many memories in it. In Photopea, I added 5 layers on top of my selfie and messed around with the effects. That included the lighter color, light color, and opacity. I wanted to make sure you would still get peaks at the sunset and my selfie that was the background underneath everything. I didn’t use the other effects because that caused the images to either become distorted or too dark. Overall, I think my image conveys that you can combine random pictures and have an appealing outcome.
Double Exposure
This is my double exposure selfie. This whole class has taught me so much from adjustments to filters to masking and the different tools available. I demonstrated those in my double exposure selfie above. Using the masking tool as well as different layers and color picking for the overall background. My first selfie is messy and confusing while covering most of my face. I wanted to portray a powerful feeling with my quote, that quote has been something being said a lot lately around school. I connect strongly to it and wanted to include it in my work, as well as the sunset which means a lot to me. I thought the colors were very appealing so I choose this purpley shade as my background. I specifically choose to put the colored part around my head because I recognized it as my brain working and imaginating.
